Vision & Feature Opportunities
While working at DHL, I used internal shipment tools daily. They worked — but were slow, outdated, and restrictive. I saw a chance to build something better, faster, and more usable.
Here’s what I set out to improve:
- Data visibility: DHL tools hid most of the shipment metadata.
Solution: Show full shipment info: timestamps, milestones, locations. - Single-shipment only: No list view or shipment overview.
Solution: Add multi-shipment dashboard for full overview. - No accounts for B2C: Tools were restricted to business clients (at the time).
Solution: Allow sign-up for individuals and small teams. - No live updates: Manual refresh was required.
Solution: Add auto-refreshing status with live polling. - Outdated UI: Interfaces were slow and clunky.
Solution: Use modern, mobile-friendly design system. - Missing insights: No analytics or reporting options.
Solution: Add charts, delay stats, and carrier metrics. - Single-carrier only: Only DHL shipments were supported.
Solution: Add multi-carrier tracking.
The goal wasn’t to compete with DHL, but to rethink shipment tracking for users who needed speed, clarity, and more control.
